There is entirely too much wrong with counting calories as a method for weight loss and "warding off diabetes" to cover here. The ideology that simply speaking, calories are what make you gain weight would be true if my 1000 calorie salad had the same affect on weight gain/loss as eating 1000 calories of bread and jam. All calories are not created equal.

Check out a good examination. Keep in mind, simply increased calories does not mean you will gain weight. It is the composition of the calorie that is important:

Word up, Anon. It is more important how those calories are metabolized than the actual count. Spike your insulin and more of those cals will get shuttled to adipose tissue. Pretty simple.
